Home Inspection FAQs
Q. How do I know you're qualified to perform my home inspection?
A. Ron Hanson, (the inspector) is a Michigan Licensed Residential Builder and InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) member in good standing. NACHI requires that all members pass written tests and take intensive continuing education courses.
Q. How long will my home inspection take?
A. A typical home inspection usually takes about 2 hours for up to 1200 sq. ft home. A good rule of thumb is 1 hour for each additional 1000 sq ft.
Q. Should I be there for my home inspection?
A. Absolutely yes! If for some reason you can't make it to the inspection, you should try to send a representative.
Q. Can I participate in the inspection?
A. Yes, you are encouraged to participate and ask as many questions as you like. If you have an item of concern, please allow the inspector to get to the area of concern before your inquiry. Home Inspectors typically have their own systematic approach to inspections, if they are jumping around, it's likely they may miss something.
Q. When will I receive a written report?
A. The home inspector tries to keep your time at a minimum. The inspector will spend approximately twice as long writing your report, as he did at the inspection site. Reports are generally sent via email within 24 hours after the inspection.
Q. Exactly what is inspected during a home inspection?
A. A home inspection is a non invasive, visual examination of a residential dwelling. Components that are typically inspected, include: structural, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. The inspection is based on non-invasive conditions that exist at the time of inspection. Sterling Home Services LLC is equipped to provide the following other tests for an additional fee:
